Why we do what we do:

We believe that children are natural learners, and when given the proper environment and tools, they will discover their world around them. As their teachers, we are here to facilitate this learning. Much of our pre-k curriculum is “play-based,” and to the outsider, it will look as if all we do is play! With a closer look, you will see that our “games” have a point, whether it is encouraging a student to use his or her imagination in housekeeping, building fine motor skills (which are essential to writing) with legos, hunting for and counting leaves, or developing problem solving/social skills through role-playing. We strive to provide a supportive environment for our students to ask questions, discover their strengths, and grow as a complete student. We hope that by the time they move on to kindergarten, they have developed the necessary skills to be successful, life-long learners!

Who we are:

Ms. Bonnie Boisvert
I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a double major in Early Childhood Education and Music. After college, I spent two years working as a missionary with children in South Africa. I am now entering my 4th year teaching Pre-K and I grow to love it more with every passing year. My hobbies include singing, fixing up my old house, and enjoying a good cup of coffee with friends!

Ms. Linda Hayes
I graduated from North Carolina Central University with a degree in English with a concentration in journalism. I have been with Durham Public Schools for about 24 years, working in a variety of classrooms including multi-handicapped, 2nd grade, and now pre-k. In my spare time, I enjoy creative writing, enjoying my grandson, Trenton, and shopping. My favorite color is royal blue, favorite restaurant is Texas Roadhouse, and favorite recording artist is Luther Vandross.

We hope this helps you know us a little better! Feel free to contact us either by phone (919-560-3967) or by email (bonnie.boisvert@dpsnc.net).
